14 May, 2020 – Today, another collector and processor of medicinal and aromatic plants (MAPs) and non-wood forest products (NWFPs) received assistance in form of a grant from USAID and the Kosovo Ministry of Agriculture in the amount of 64,884 Euro. A-E-D Group located in the village of Breznica, in Obiliq /Obilic municipality, cultivates various agricultural plants including MAPs such as nettle, mint, cornflower and chamomile, since 2017. It has a newly constructed facility, which serves as a collection, drying, and storage center for MAPs. Although the A-D-E Group is new to the sector, it has established itself as a serious market actor with ambitious plans. In 2019, the company cultivated 4.5 hectares of perennial MAPs and 27.5 hectares of annual MAPs. This grant assistance will contribute to the expansion of planted MAP areas by 25 hectares, and the company will increase its processing capacities by investing in the purchase of a processing line and a dryer for MAPs, as well as a cutting machine for MAPs. This grant was financed by the Kosovo Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MAFRD).
